The exercise is part of a 61-hour Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) course Medstar is providing to 28 Genesee County firefighters. The Medstar LifeFlight team will teach attendees how to secure the scene for a safe landing and assist air medical providers when a patient needs to be transported via helicopter.

“Medstar supports communities in their roles in the EMS system whenever we can,” said Kolby Miller, Medstar CEO. “This air medical training prepares firefighters in the EMR program to serve critically ill and injured patients who require helicopter transportation.”

Medstar provides the EMR training at no cost to fire departments or their personnel. The Burton Fire Department donated the classroom space to host the course.

*The training is weather-dependent.
