Employment at Medstar

Medstar is changing the way EMS and mobile healthcare is delivered in Michigan. As a nonprofit community service, our organization is committed to providing the most compassionate, highest level of clinical care available to the patients, communities, and facilities we serve. With over 700 team members, Medstar is one of the largest EMS and mobile health organizations in the state.

Our commitment to our personnel is based on the belief that if we take care of the people who take care of the people, our organization will succeed and grow. We recognize that our team members in all departments have challenging responsibilities and invest significant amounts of their lives into the services we provide. By supporting our team members with the best wage and benefits package in the region, the newest and safest equipment in the industry, and the most comprehensive education and training available, we create an organizationwide commitment to compassionate, clinically advanced care, and safety in every response and interaction.

Our leadership is local, our equipment is new, and our decisions are based on our team, our patients, and our ability to provide care for both.  There are no out-of-state decision-makers, hand-me-down ambulances from other states, or big health system delays in our decision making. The future of our team is based 100% on the care and service that we provide as Medstar, not out-of-town “owners” in other states, or large health systems that don’t support their EMS resources. Our board of directors is comprised of local physicians, elected officials, and healthcare leaders, who provide direction to our leadership team.

As we grow to meet increasing demand from new 911 communities, as well as our growth within our stakeholder health systems, we welcome skilled and compassionate EMS providers to join our team.  New team members have the option to pick from a variety of workweek schedules and shift options including 24’s, 12’s and 36-48 (alternating weekends). We also offer a “student special” schedule of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday – 12-hour shifts, paid as 44 hours worked. Our sign-on bonuses do not have “other terms may apply” clauses.
