Medstar Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) courses are often the start of long careers in EMS, public safety, and healthcare. EMT and Paramedic courses are held at several of the Medstar operating sites, and Medstar is the only EMS agency in Southeast Michigan to be accredited by the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions, the required accreditation to teach paramedic programs in the state of Michigan.
Our EMS education programs offer flexible scheduling, on-site and online learning resources, and a proud history of student success and employment.
EMTs completing Medstar certification and state licensure are often hired upon licensure, and EMTs at Medstar are eligible for free Paramedic training (also on-site) as a benefit of employment. The starting wage for an EMT is $16.50 an hour plus benefits.
For more information about our EMT program, contact Jennifer Monaghan, Education Manager, at jmonaghan@medstarambulance.org.
Medstar team members receive the most comprehensive training of any EMS provider in Southeast Michigan. In addition to frequent continuing education (CE) opportunities, our team members are able to take ACLS, PHTLS, PALS, UMBC-CCT, and PPTC on-site at our deployment hubs.
Our training programs are designed around the certification and re-certification needs of our personnel and are held regularly throughout the year. Medstar EMTs are also eligible for no-cost Paramedic training.
