Medstar, Michigan’s largest EMS and mobile healthcare provider, was pleased to award Macomb Elks Lodge 2292 an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) at the 4th Annual Shock and Save Golf Classic.

When someone’s heart suddenly stops beating, AEDs can significantly improve outcomes. The Macomb Elks Lodge has taken a giant leap forward in care to save its patrons and employees by applying for a grant to receive this device. This donation was made possible by Medstar’s Shock and Save Initiative. Medstar recognizes community AED placement as a critical component of increasing cardiac arrest survival throughout its eleven-county service area.

The Shock and Save Golf Classic is the signature fundraiser for the grant program. It was held on Thursday, September 14, 2024 at Greystone Golf Club in Washington Twp. To date, over 220 AED’s have been awarded, with installation and training provided by Medstar staff.
