Medstar, Michigan’s largest EMS and mobile healthcare provider, is proud to join The Michigan Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (MAEMT) to honor Medstar paramedic Ray VanHevel as the EMS Practitioner of the Year. Each year, the association recognizes an EMS provider whose exemplary professional achievements and commitment to service exceed expectations. The honoree advances the EMS profession by leading by example and providing outstanding clinical care to the patients they serve.
“Ray is an outstanding EMS practitioner who exemplifies all of the qualities needed to excel in the industry,” said Angela Madden, Executive Director of the MAEMT. “He is dedicated to providing the best possible pre-hospital care to patients throughout Medstar’s nine-county service area. We are lucky to have him representing emergency medical services in Michigan.”
VanHevel has over seven years of experience in the EMS industry and currently serves as a Critical Care Paramedic, Field Training Officer, and Special Event Coordinator. In addition to providing remarkable clinical care, VanHevel is responsible for planning EMS services for the Detroit Pistons, Tigers, and Red Wings. He also arranges medical services for the annual Selfridge Air National Guard Base Open House and Air Show and other large-scale events in the Medstar service area.
“We are privileged to have a provider like Ray on our team. This distinguished award reflects the exceptional care and service he delivers daily. Ray’s contributions to Medstar are unmatched,” said Kevin Wilkinson, Vice President of Clinical and Education Services at Medstar. “This recognition is a testament to his values and passion for people..”
